How about you contact someone capable of changing the site, and have them put something on the front page stating how people can help. Anybody can claim to own a site on Twitter, but only an owner or damned good hacker can edit one.

You probably read up on all you could to find a way to get your quick buck. This is exactly the situation a scammer would prey on. If it were to be believed that the site cannot be edited, uploading a new file with donation instructions would be possible.
