Yeah, tis bad. Because my hands and fingers are going to get weak, which means getting back into playing will be tough. Bass is the only physically demanding instrument.

No, bass is far worse. The strings are thick and are at a high tension, they require a bit of strength to hold down for any extended period of time. The massive size means constant shifting, and the bow hold demands coordination of the entire arm, not just the wrist and elbow.

On a 3/4 size bass, which is what I play, the fingerboard is 45 inches long. 50 on the low end if you have a C extension. Add 5 inches for a 7/8 bass.
