Young boys (14-) stronger than older girls (16+)

Question: When I was 13 I had 2 neighbour girl friends who were 16 and 17, I was much stronger than them, I could pick them both up, one girl on each shoulder while they had trouble picking me up, I also beat them at arm wrestling them using both hands, they loved it and of course I did too. So you think it is the rule or was it an exception?
