Homicide was by far one of the best television shows ever. The *sshole at NBC who cancelled it should be drug out into the street and shot. And yes...I actually have a life. Regardless, I can always escape that life and once again savour the fine flavour of this series. And my favourite character, Mr. Kellerman, did cross the line with the shooting of Luther, but hey, whatca gonna do, hold it against my boy? I loved watching the devolution (sp?) of the Golden Boy into one surly bastard. Footnote: I didn't like the way the show "killed" of Georgina - God, I hope that's her name. It's too early for me. mickkern@about.comJan 12 2001 6:57am H:LotS still is and will forever be the best television show ever. (You can hardly call it television...) Everything else is detritus. There is none that even comes close in comparision to the depth and complexity of it's characters or it's riveting plots. It was a show that tried to bring forth humanity from an inhuman act and make viewers actually think for themselves about questions H:LotS would often leave open ("Does one act, does one moment- does that wipe out a lifetime of good?" (Tim, Episode: "I've Got A Secret") or (love) "Life is a mystery..." (Crosetti, "Gone for Goode", Shepard, "Forgive Us Our Trespasses") I love it beyond mere words and there is no way to truly describe it and do it justice (I think a lot of you out there know what I mean). Anyone who doesn't, doesn't know it's heart. It's corny, but I think it's true. (Just like I think that anyone who likes Falsone, cannot truly be a fan of Homicide. I cherish the moment in "Finnegan's Wake" when former Detective Finnegan calls the rat bastard a "bitch" or when Lewis says "Just leave it the hell alone, Falsone" in "Sins of the Father". Makes me smile every time. Don't ask me how I memorize all this stuff. It just becomes ingrained in you with time.) As far as the Mahoney shooting is concerned- it's hard to say what's right and what's wrong. I certainly don't think it all should have come down on Mikey's head though. What happened in both of the "Fallen Heroes" episodes was on a lot of people. Anyway, if you love Homicide, please e-mail me- there's always a shortage (almost no one, actually) of people to talk with about it. (My opinion: Homicide is too good for most people (those destracted by idiotic, reality (not that H:LotS isn't realstic) or sitcom tv that reduces their IQ's to that of mayonaise jars. It takes an intelligent person to recognize and treasure the shows qualities and characters. A weapon in the hands of a known killer can be lethal, so Mikey's shooting was a righteous one. His character deterioration, on the other hand, was a damn unadulterated shame. It was time to go. Every good show has about 5 or 6 good years in it, tops. It had a great run and it was time to go, while it was still decent. Hope they do the same with the Sopranos, end it after 4 or 5 seasons. They've already let Oz go one dreadful season too long. ZupzicOct 03 2001 10:16pm Well. Personally, I got a little tired of the whole Luther Mahoney thing. But when Kellerman shot his greasy-ass, I did squeal with delight. I lived in Baltimore during the entire run of Homicide and when they cancelled it, I moved to another city. Coincidence? What really pisses me off is the 17 versions of Law and Order (that ka-schlong sound drives me nuts) that they have now. Combined with "Crossing Jordan" you get a half-assed attempt at HLOTS. Most people would like to argue that it wouldn't be a clean shooting and it was racially motivated; but Meldrick would have crushed Luther's head in the safe if Mikey didn't roll up.
