Women are the stronger sex. Yes , women become more powerful than men none I agree. Women seem so competent and focused these days. They are more intelligent and disciplined than men. She has been weight lifting at home for about a year and I was surprised at her big muscles as she flexes! Bigger than his that's for sure and maybe most guys her size! My brother's weights she used and they have been together for only two years, I say "dude, she is way stronger and has huge muscles" he says "I know, I work out hard but she is pumping iron when I'm at work" I think girls are stronger now because I see them at school in the weight room with muscles that show in their arms. One girl won in her weight class and the other finally got beat but took second place. Only two girls and so many boys, seems their chances were slim. Both of those girls had about the best developed muscles, bigger muscles than most all boys had. Even more noticeable was the girl's better endurance. Boys could hardly catch their breath after a match and looked wore out while the two girls really didn't look tired and minutes after a match they were breathing normal! The girls were so strong they kept the boys pinned while the boys could hardly move and had them pinned so fast! One boy's face was turning red as this girl squeezed him and he cried after he lost! It seemed kind of weird to watch a boy squirming and see a girl's strength bring that boy's movement to a stop and see her muscles flexed. The looks on some of the parents & couches faces too. Girls are much stronger than many people realize. Especially when they train for sports, they seem to build strong muscles very well too. Paul Not only do girls have the capacity to develop superior strength and endurance, women can stay strong and fit much later in life than men, who gradually become weaker after age 24. Anonymous I have read that women maintain muscle much better than men after about 25 years old. My wife and I are in our late fourties and we work out with weights. I honestly admit she has out muscled me. My muscles have become somewhat smaller than they were ten years ago even though I exercise still. On the other hand my wife has built considerable muscle size in the last five years and has much more endurance than I do. She rubs it in about her muscles being bigger than mine and so there must truth to the older women's strength. She is stronger now than ever before and more muscular. I hate to admit this too but she has much better developed muscles now than I did when I was younger! We don't wrestle very often but we have and I used to beat her but not now, same with arm wrestling. What surprises me is her ability to pump her muscles up with weights like she is 25 years old and I just do not have that going for me now days. Many women are so much stronger than most men realize. I really adore my wife but I'm having trouble being envious about her physique, especially her having bigger muscles. I'm only an inch taller too so when we look in the mirror she looks like a body builder and I look like a distance runner. She wasn't my "normal" type of girl, almost as tall as my 6 feet and a lot wider. When we came to her place she almost directly said that she never had sex with a man before wrestling him. I was very surprised at this of course but being a bit drunk and curious about this lady I agreed. A few hours later I fell asleep in her arms after experienced a night where I discovered that woman can be strong, really strong AND good wrestlers. My Tara had worked for a show as a wrestler in Germany for some year and knew all the tricks in the book. She had beaten me anyway since she was far more muscular than me. But she was also very feminine, she teased me all the way about being weaker but she also caressed me when she had me pinned making me beg her at the end to have sex with me. And that was the best sex I have ever had. I still wake up beside Tara, admiring her strong body. We still wrestle several times a week even if I never have the chance to get the upper hand. I have a place in my enclosed patio that I work out every day when he is at work. About two years now and I'm much stronger at wrestling or arm wrestling. I was kind of put away recently when she showed me that her muscles are bigger with a tape measure. She's larger in biceps claves and thighs and is now only five pounds lighter than I am even though I'm four inches taller. She says that I'm ectomorphic [having a lightly-muscled build] and that she is [mesomorphic] having a robust muscular body-build characterized by predominance of structures (bone and muscle and connective tissue) developed from the embryonic mesodermal layer. I looked up the definitions and that's what I find. She also says she has much more fast twitch muscle fiber making them bigger and that me having testosterone will not make my muscles somehow catch up to hers. This of course has now lead up to wrestling and me taking the brunt of her strength because she can pin me soon enough she spends time putting more and more power into her holds that becomes painful and thinks it's a great form of exercise for her. I would never have thought that I would be weaker than her or it would be turned into a workout for her to pin and hold me. What concerns me is that she is either getting stronger or is willing to use more strength during wrestling. I'm working out more as a result of this but it seams she is really enjoying the new found truth about who is stronger. She prods me to fight hard only so she can turn up her power on me and make things worse and is finding positions to put me in and add muscle power to the hold sometimes she is no longer listening to "I give" asking me to "try to stop me". She has been asking me when I'm pinned if I think she is strong enough to break my bones. I think now it's possible and the fun is no longer there for me as a workout for her. After what was maybe ten minutes she had me in a hold with her legs holding mine and my arms pulled behind my back with her being on my back. It was this year I decided to wrestle him and found out what I suspected in that I'm stronger. I'm able to pin him in many holds and now have a reserve of strength to use on him once he is held. It's a real thrill when he can't move and I can continue to use my muscles on his body just to hear him. I also have put in some mirrors so he can see our bodies and of course my muscles. Many years ago my girlfriend's mother beat me badly in armwrestling which was the start to my realization that this is very possible. When I was in my late twenties I went out with a girl at work who was about 20 and had worked as a manager for her high school wrestling team. We wrestled and she pinned me after a couple of minutes. I had her by 70 pounds but she was strong and knew a lot of legitimate wrestling moves. Charlie My wife has been going to the gym for more than a year. Last week we wrestled and I found myself in trouble after about five minutes. It just felt like she kept getting stronger until she had me in a hold. She wrapped her legs around mine and got my wrists held so I couldn't move. Much stronger than I thought she was. Carl When I was 12 or 13 years old I got my younger sister in trouble by telling on her to our folks (parents). She was on a swim team and exercised alot. When the folks were away the next day, she came into my room and got me in a headlock and pulled me into the living room. I had my hands full in a real fight with her and really became afraid when I found out how strong she was. She got me to the floor and for the first time I could see her muscles in her arms and shoulders as she held my wrists and overpowered me. I was straining against her and shaking as I lost to her and she wrapped her legs around my chest and powered into me. I cried when she did this she was so strong. I ended up with both arms held behind my back by her one arm and the other around my neck while she squashed me with her legs. All I could do was take what she was doing to me and was shocked as I felt her muscles pushing into my body, I had no clue before this happened that she might be stronger than me. I could not even move as she worked on me and took out her anger. It was very painful to say the least and her physical strength far more than mine. She sqeezed with her legs until they shook and I could no longer breath and did this many times before she stopped. When she was finished I was finished and I couldn't move at all and just laid there not wanting to look at her but she stood there as I heard her breathing hard in what seemed like ten minutes and walked away. She is in very good shape but the last time I saw her was late last year. There were several incedents that I recall. A large and long hill near our home when I was 9 or 10. I raced my sister up the grade and lost by a long shot, I blamed it on her bike being lighter. Without hesitation she said "switch bikes" and a few days later I lost again. She was able to do about two times more pull ups on a clothesline poll or push ups. After our fight the first encounter was a challenge by her behind our garage. There was a narrow walkway with a brick wall on one side and the back side of the garage on the other. She made a bet on who would win pressing her softball bat at each other with our backs against the wall. She quickly smashed the bat into my chest, tried again and smashed with the bat however this time she pushed into it with force and pined my arms against the wall pressing her bat into my chest very hard and held it. I remember trying to push my arms off the wall just to get it off my chest. Later it was back to back and pushing with our hands against the walls behind the garage. There were wrestling incidents for about two years. I could never beat her at physical strength. Steve Women can surprise a man with strength. Anonymous I'm 5'6" @ 168 lbs and he is 5'8" and I think 150-160. My husband has had weights for some time that I began using years ago and he only occationaly uses. We also bought a bowflex. I workout for about an hour a day and he hasn't put in the same effort. I suspected that I have become stronger but never tested myself. I've built my muscles up and after our wrestling episode, I had him flex and I put my arm next to his and showed him the big difference now and he was a little embarised! I'm an athletic person but only 6' 140 and she's a smoker and drinker, but is 5'7" and 175. She never works out but has alot of muscularity. When she let me go I was completely red in the face and in pain. Her friend said that a woman needs to be strong these days, and she flexed and asked if she could be next. She was heavyset at 5'3" and 170 but you could see the muscles, esp. in her legs. I said I was tired, but she tackled me anyways. She picked me up in her arms and said she couldn't believe how light I was. My roommate said to lift him over head and she did. Then she dropped me in this chair and sat on me. In studies carried out at the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland, for example, 10 male and nine female strength athletes (powerlifters and body-builders) performed 20 maximal squat lifts, with three minutes of recovery between each lift. After the 20 lifts, the fatigued leg muscles of both males and females had lost about 20-24% of their maximal strength. However, various indicators of muscular power favoured the females. For one thing, the force-time curve an indicator of muscles ability to contract powerfully and quickly changed negatively by 28% in the males over the course of the workout but dropped by only 19% in the females. Females also recovered from the 20-lift session more quickly. One hour after the workout, female lifters leg muscles could generate about 92% as much force as before the session, whereas male muscles were just 79% as strong. Why was the fatigue greater and recovery slower in males? Part of the problem seemed to be that the male lifters nervous systems became less responsive over the course of the workout. From the first to the 20 lift, activation of leg muscles by nerve cells fell by 20-25% in males but held fairly steady in females. While its not clear why male nerve activation should deteriorate more quickly, it is clear that females lose less of their muscular power during heavy-duty resistance training and seem to recover more rapidly once a tough session is over. She had started out just doing aerobics to stay in shape, but then she saw her arms getting larger. She began to flex at any opportunity, and she always wanted me to kiss her biceps, and tell how strong she was getting. Now, years later, she is obsessed with bodybuilding. She thinks nothing of walking around town in a sleeveless blouse, and will flex for anyone that asks. Her favorite is to flex for teenage boys that express an interest in her arms. She loves to tell them how much bigger her arms are than theirs, and she loves to have them flex their arm along side hers. This is all very unscientific. I voted for women but that is becaue I am 54 and in my age group women seem to be stronger if they are approximately the same height and body type. Even women who do not work out or exercise in any way seem to be stronger than men their age. I do not know if that is true of younger men and women - lets say in the early 20s to late 30s bracket. I just don't know. I do know that women in that age group are working out more and are not afraid of developing strength. Female muscle seems to be quite amazing. It does not look strong but is. It will always fool you. So in my age group a woman should be able to be the superior wrestler (all other things being equal like training in the art of wrestling, physical activity level etc). But outside my age group - I really don't know. I have an experience that says that even in early and mid 20s that some women can defeat a lot of men but most women can not. About five years ago my wife and I decided to buy a weight set for the basement and work out. Back then I was 5'10 and 140 lbs and she was about the same. Over the years she lifted every day wherease i did it two to three times per week. About a year ago i noticed that she had become quite muscular but i really had not gained any muscle. She said that she used a 25 lbs dumbbell and i was still using 10 lb weight. Lately she has started making comments about the differences in our muscles. After some time at this practice she has become stronger than me and also developed bigger muscles. I've tried competing with her as an 'endurance game' but found myself loosing when muscle failure comes on much sooner than she does and she has built up her muscles faster by doing this every week. Jon I have always had stronger and more muscular legs than my husband and now my upper body is stronger. We have had our own home gym equipment for a little over two years and I have gradually become stronger compared to him. We have finally started to wrestle each other. I can now pin his legs with mine and overpower his upper body to the point of being able to push his arms behind his back with my arm, shoulder, and chest muscles. I've been doing this to him several times during wrestling from different holds. It's hard and takes a little time and endurance but slowly he looses and I force his arms back. I now discovered that while crasping hands and standing, I've been able to stretch his arms out and actually push him back until his arms start to go back. At that point I can pull them in behind his back until he is held and I can lower him down and put his head in my thighs all the time with his arms pinned behind his back! The roughest hold I've put him in is like this and lock my arms around his up higher at the elbos and pull them together while I hold his head pulling his arms tight behind his back and start lifting, squat down and bring him to the floor pinned nearly upside down and begging my to quit. Some years ago I would have laughed at that question, I sincerely believed that almost all men could beat almost all women in most physical contests. Now I know better. My last three girlfriends have all been able to pin me. Two of them were weaker than me in their upper bodies but they were able to control me with their legs and there was just nothing I could do about it. I wrestled Division 1 in college at 189 pounds and the heavy weight weight class. At 35 years old, I'm in better shape now than I was then. My resting pulse is 42 bpm, and if my wife and I go run or cycle, her HR is up to 160 when mine is at 115 (I can hit over 200 pbm when working hard). I commend the women of this world who have become more assertive and want to compete on an equal playing field with men. High School Graduate Just found this poll after something that happened to me the other day. I'm a 6'1, 182lbs guy, in fairly good shape. I met this girl some months ago, she is athletic and has a background as gymnast. She is 5'8 and 145 lbs. We are both close to 30. Well this evening we started to wrestle for fun. I didn't use more than let's say 60% of my strength from the start. But the more intense the match got I had more and more problems. She is extremely flexible and obviously very strong after years of gymnast training. She could lock me up in different ways with her legs and arms, I had more and more problems getting out of these holds. She wore me down, minute by minute and I couldn't pin her since she was so flexible and strong. After about 15 minutes of playwrestling it got more serious since none of us wanted to loose. I was now very tired and felt my strength fading away, my arms felt very heavy, my legs were aching, my shoulders tired. I gave everyting I had to use my body weight and tried to pin her. But she wriggled her legs free and succeded to wrap them around my waist. She than started to squeeze the last strength out of me. I was soon lying on her totally spent. She could easily turn the tables and I was soon pinned under her. She could hold me down only using her weight. She sat at me flexing her pumped up biceps and wanted me to say that girls are stronger than boys. I must say that I was very embarrassed. The night after I wanted a new match to show her that her victory was pure luck. Stupid of me since I was very sore after the previous match. In the second match she was very aggressive from the start, jumping at me, wrapped her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck and squeezed until I fell to the ground. She knocked the wind out of me and pinned me, I got out ot the pin since I am stronger in my arms but she quickly trapped my head between her thighs and the fight was over again.
