Unpopular politicians seldom remain in office for too long because they need votes to survive. However popular but crap ala Ted Kennedy can remain in office for decades, even after driving off a bridge, (allegedly) liquored up with a young honey on board. This buffoon is considered a true Statesman by some.. ah, er ah , er ah , my er ah fellow er ah blah blah blah

The only way to determine if a polititian is popular is by election results, because the media will always try to create the illusion that everyone agrees with the left. But if you look at who is in the oval office, you will see Bush is more popular than they want you to believe.

Some woeful politicians remain popular for a period of time simply because of charisma but there comes a time when controversial politicians tip the scale one way or the other. If they remain unpopular, there's a reason for it. There's a reason Jimmy Carter remained unpopular; he's by far the greatest ex-president of all time but while in office, he was weak and he would have remained weak in a second term. Reagan was quite unpopular for about 2 years but then people started to realize that he wasn't a madman after all. It's too soon to tell if Bush is a good or bad president. So far he's not all that great. He's an SOB and that is a prerequisite but we'll have to see what happens in the next 4 years. If the dollar continues to plummet that won't look good on him. He'll need to strengthen ties principally with China but also mend fences with most of the rest of the world. If Americans are hated to point where our lives are actually in peril in many parts of the world simply because of our nationality, you can't say we are successfully exporting positive values. blablabla... There's a lot on his plate.

I disagree with almost all of bushs ethics. I also think it was a horrible decision to put the US in war with iraq. So mny innocent people are being injured and killed.
