Man vs woman in martial arts fight

Question: Can a woman beat a man in a martial arts fight? I mean when they have both the same level (the same colour of ribbon or weight category).

I believe it could go either way because a woman and a man each have specific advantages such as upper body strength for the man (he has more powerful arms he can use to chop!!!) and lower body strength for the woman (she has more powerful legs she can use to kick!!!). Many people would count the woman out but most women have very strong legs which means that a woman with overall martial arts training could do an awful lot of damage with those powerful legs of hers. We cannot count the lady out simply because she is female. It doesn't matter that he has a penis while she has a clitoris and a vagina. It could still go either way. He might beat her or she might beat him. However, after war comes love so no matter who wins, he and she would most likely put their one-on-one battle behind them and engage in the best sex they ever had in their entire lives!!!

Lots of women are pretty good grapplers. In Judo or BJJ it would probably be pretty even. I think guys would win in most striking sports.

Hi Kathy, do you also some kind of fight sport and did you ever beat a man?

MrJeanMay 13 2009 11:00am
I just started a bjj class at college. In training matches I've made a guy tap out in a triangle choke, and immobilized another guy by getting a head and arm lock then grapevining him. I have a brother a year younger and we used to wrestle and fight lots, so I;m kind of a tom boy. I've played played soccer and volleyball as long as I can remember and have good cardio. In middle school I pinned a boy in a pe class match. that's about it.

my father was a kickboxing champion one. Now he owns a martial arts club. My mother works there as well as the second instructor. My dad taught her martial arts. He is much more experienced and stronger than her. But despite this, she bet him in front of the students once. She knocked him out in a demonstration. He was embarassed to be beaten by his wife and did not go to the club for some time but now he is fine with that. Actually the club has more female students now.Mom proved that if a girl is determined and well trained she can win against a well trained man.

in the match of striking sports man would lead, but wrestling,grappling-once woman get man on the ground she have enormous advantage in her legs are mostly chicken legs but woman have legs of kanguroo, especialy their thighs, and very wide hips-so powerfull man will never have.and most important if woman is determined to win she will, any possible way because woman have what man dont and that is real powerfull STAMINA!

in the same weight class it is not a big difference. Women are quite often more flexible then men where men can be stronger in their upper bodies. Woman can put more pressure in the scissor holds than men. In 100 years I am sure that there will be mixed boxing, wrestling and martial arts since women are as good or even better fighters than men. It is still a big difference in how you are brought up where boys are encouraged to fight, to work out with weights etc. Big changes already now with more and more girls in "boy's sports".

No the man would kick her ass 99/100 times if everything else were equal.

A lot of lack of knowledge here. From above post realize the fiollowing: an mma fight has never ended due to a grapevine or a headlock. On their feet most men would dominate the striking. On the ground it is a combination of upper and lower body strength. The woman could apply a truants chime but that is a very difficult hold to apply. The woman might have an advantage on an arm bar. Unlike pure wrestling where I would give the nod to the woman in mma I would give the nod to the man.

my girlfriend is a taekwondo expert and once she beat me up in front of all her family. I gave my best to fight her but her superiority was too much. At the end she made me kiss her feet while she was laughing...

AnonymousMar 05 2011 4:01pm
How does your taekwondo girlfriend look and are you practise taekwondo yourself?! Did she also beat other men and maybe strong women?

MrJeanJun 20 2011 5:44am
i think men have a better chance. more times is the head actually hit by atacks comming from punches than kicks. and men have a lot more strength in the chest, and arms also a fact many forget, men have more space for muscle development in the forearms, and forearms is what determines the strength of a fist. the tighter it is the harder. an asian martial artist told me westerners think big arms are the source of a powerful hit. he said: if the fist is hard as a rock and thrown behind a weaker arm, will it not cause more damage than a soft hand with a strong arm? also men have longer legs. in martial arts its about technique not brutal power most of the time. and having more reach makes a difference i also read a study were male bones tend to be harder slightly

I have sparred with a female friend in judo for a few years. We are both black bealts. From the start the matches were very tight, we won about half of the matches each. We are the same weight and height. But then something happened, I started to loose every single training match. I had to ask my friend. She told me that she didn't go 100% earlier and that she had started to work out one extra day at the gym the least 6 months, she said that she was now a lot stronger than me and that this also made a difference. We continued to train once a week but I didn't win anymore and it wasn't close even. Then one day she told me she should change training partner to a woman, a bit heavier and stronger than her, she had to improve and beating me was too easy. I was really sad about this and missed our matches. We still had contact but not as often as before. I one night met her in the summer, she wanted to drink and get drunk since both of us had a summer break from judo (only easy work outs). We went to her place and I told her how much I missed our matches. She then surprised me by throwing me to the floor so quickly that I couldn't react. She tooke the little clothes I had off me and then started to take advantage of me (as they say). I tried to stop her for a while but she was right, she was stronger and now also a bit heavier than me since she added 4-5 kgs of muscle. We are now a couple, I have stopped competing at judo, I lost interest, but my wife has continued. She now and then shows me who is the boss.

Been reading these polls for awhile about strong muscular bigger women etc. Think most are very bogus myself. Am a professional white male, 50 years old 5'10" 190, athletic not a bodybuilder tho. Am here by challenging any big strong muscular woman, bodybuilder, powerlifter, whatever, bigger the better, stronger the better. Challenge is to any female who will come meet me here in oklahoma, and literally use her full size, strength, muscle and power to lift me, crush me with full strength, lift, carry, throw me around the room like a rag doll, bodyslam etc, without regard to injury to me. Seriously using ALL her full size, power and muscle on me for 2 hours. No mercy asked, will sign injury waiver as well or release of liabilities to you etc. Any women takers, all you have to do is contact me at and put likelike challenge in your subject line. Cash prize if you come to do this and claim it is 2500 dollars. Will make a nice Christmas if any really tough or muscular women exist in real life besides these stupid polls. I am extemely serious. Lets see if any really huge big strong or muscular powerful women exist, or if they just talk talk talk.

Has any man ever got out of a woman's scissorhold besides me

EscapedApr 08 2012 5:41pm
Hi Escaped, tell me more about that mixed wrestling fight, where you escaped out her scissorhold and tell me how you beat her. I assume you beat her? Describe her and were their a lot of women in the audience, if there was an audience?

I am 6' tall, weighing in at 145 lbs. I met this judo girl, she is 5'6 and 145 lbs. She taught me how to fall the second time we met and then kept on teaching me how to fall properly. Every time I fell she was on me and kissed me (while pinning me so I couldn't get loose). After about 10 times of learning how to fall I started to understand why she taught me this. She wanted to have a wrestling match with me. She threw me around for about 30-40 minutes until I was so exhausted that I couldn't put up any resistance. She loved to show her physical dominance over me and I actually got better and better at judo but never close being better than my new judo girl. She is still pinning me every now and then and I can't complain since I know how to fall :-)

I am sharing my own experience. I have been practitcing kickboxing for more than three years. Last week I attended to a new class. There were 9 more students including ladies. At the end of the training we did short matches with eachother. I fought with a 28 year old lady who has been practicing kickboxing for like 4 years. She was ok, but even though I did not exert much power on my kicks and punches she seemed to be shaken each time I attacked. Realizing that, the instructor asked us to do some shadow fighting where fighters do not hit eachother but just touch and show the tecnique. She did well but honestly even though I was bigger and more muscular, I was faster and she was not able to respond back to many of my attacks. Of course I was not able to respond back some of her attacks. The match would end when one of the fighters scored the 10th point and the score was 10 to 6, ı was the winner. The I fought with a younger girl at the age 18. Her kicks and punches were much stronger than the those of the other lady I fought previously but they hardly shaken me. She had quite an experience on fighting and was quite flexible, very fast at the same time but the score was 10 to 7. I did not push much either. However I must accept that she must tougher than the previous lady I fought. The I fought with a boy at the age of 20. He was fast and strong but I bet him with the score 10 to 7. I can say that the girl who was 18 was a little bit tougher and more focused and determined than the boy.

In college a girl challenged me to spar, and she ended up beating the crap out of me. She was fast, and strong. Later she told me she used to be a dancer, so her legs were already strong before starting Karate.

Glad she didn't seriously hurt me.Feb 09 12:33pm
