Health Care Debate: Is it time to consider a career in the health industry?

Question: The healthcare bill has passed. One of the provsions is to establish community healthcare clinics. Without getting into the nitty gritty, it may not benefit doctors OR you relationship with your doctor. I , personally opposed the bill because I dont believe goverment intrusion in our private lives. But its been done! One bright spot I see in all of this, if all uninsured 32 million americans are to be insured, we are going to need alot of medical personel on all levels. We are talking about creating millions of new jobs over the next 10 yrs. So since your current employer will go broke because they cant afford to pay health insurance, maybe its time to consider a career in the health industry?? LOL that will be about the only industry left

1. Once reform is fully implemented, over 95% of Americans will have health insurance coverage, including 32 million who are currently uninsured.2 2. Health insurance companies will no longer be allowed to deny people coverage because of preexisting conditions?or to drop coverage when people become sick.3 3. Just like members of Congress, individuals and small businesses who can't afford to purchase insurance on their own will be able to pool together and choose from a variety of competing plans with lower premiums.4 4. Reform will cut the federal budget deficit by $138 billion over the next ten years, and a whopping $1.2 trillion in the following ten years.5 5. Health care will be more affordable for families and small businesses thanks to new tax credits, subsidies, and other assistance?paid for largely by taxing insurance companies, drug companies, and the very wealthiest Americans.6 6. Seniors on Medicare will pay less for their prescription drugs because the legislation closes the "donut hole" gap in existing coverage.7 7. By reducing health care costs for employers, reform will create or save more than 2.5 million jobs over the next decade.8 8. Medicaid will be expanded to offer health insurance coverage to an additional 16 million low-income people.9 9. Instead of losing coverage after they leave home or graduate from college, young adults will be able to remain on their families' insurance plans until age 26.10 10. Community health centers would receive an additional $11 billion, doubling the number of patients who can be treated regardless of their insurance or ability to pay.11

Anonymous, You have bought into the voodoo hook line and hairpin. You have been blinded by smoke and mirrors. I am almost glad I am not going to be around too many more years. The wholle truth of this horrible nite mare of a bill will not kick in until 2019. The horror of the destruction of our great medical care system will not become known to you and those who have bought the same irresponsible and socialistic jargon will not be known until the child king in DC has been long out of office. Then again, if he manages to reach a secod term, he will begin to attempt to increase his term limits. I only hope the country wakes up before it is way too late.

This gradual phasing in of this program is classic. The same was done in nazi germany

Rugged individualism has been the cornerstone of american culture. Some say that is what has made america great. You earn a better quality of life through hard work and acheiving. You want better healthcare, get a better job; further education. You fail to do that, we commonly refer to you as a "loser". Many say this healthcare bill goes against everything america stands for...

.Mar 24 2010 7:41am
What is wrong with you people! You are going to fight to deny our less fortunate citizens access to basic healthcare? You people are consumed by greed and hatred. Every other developed, industrialized nation offers this to it's citizens.

AnonymousMar 24 2010 11:02am
You are buying what the corporations and insurance companies are feeding you through the right winged media hook line and sinker.

Now we (the angry and disgusted) know what to do come November. However, because the terms of elected officials expire in different years, it will take more than just one November TO GET 'EM ALL OUT OF OFFICE!!!

Anyone who is not from a privileged and spoiled backround has to know someone who can't afford healthcare. This problem is epidemic. It affects many hard working Americans. So stop with the weak arguments.

Unfortunately, that will do no good. Whatever you think of the liberals, they are smart and politically savvy. They arent just doing it for the country, but they want to prolong their political careers. Yes you read right THEIR POLITICAL CAREERS! If things go along the way they planned it.Those uninsured with a preexisting condition(and who doesnt have a pre-existing condition)will be covered in 6 months. Thats 20 million people, which potentially creating a new huge voting block for the dems. I hate to rain on your parade, but once people start eating the candy, the dems maybe in there for a long time.

AnonymousMar 26 2010 5:06am
Who knows where the money is going to come from. But when people start getting free medical care, theyre unstoppable. These are seasoned politicians, they know what it takes to stay in power

AnonymousMar 26 2010 5:18am
I'm willing to bet that you are this cynical in everyday life and that you regularly use excuses like this not to help others. The world is an imperfect place. We have to keep going forward anyway.

AnonymousMar 26 2010 7:54am
Before we can help others, we must first help ourselves. I don't mean help ourselves in a selfish manner. In drills preparing for the possibility of a water landing, flight attendants instruct the mother to put her own life vest on before she puts one on for her child.

AnonymousMar 26 2010 11:51am
What about spending money on ourselves before we spend trillions on ficticious wars across the globe??

AnonymousMar 26 2010 2:14pm
The way these comun----, er ah, eftists are spending ???, we small biz peop[le will be forced out of business. I am already trying to sell my own business and can find no takers who feel it safe to take the risk. Once small businesses are forced to drop out, the poor folks in this country will find out just how bad things can really get for them. B.O. says there should be no more risk taking. Well, it has been risk tkers who have made this country strong. Once government has eliminated risk takers from the equation, we will ALL be suffering. It will eventually be the poorest who will suffer the very most.

An old timer risk taker who worked very hardMar 28 2010 12:29am
the only way to solve this problem is to take the greed and profit motive out of the heatlhcare industry. My mother the other day had to have an eye injection just to save her sight. It cost $3000 per injection. Luckily her inusrance covered that, but someone is paying for all of that. I think healthcare should stay out of the free enterprise capitalist system. Ultimately it should be provided free of charge w/o any taxpayers money! Churches, philantropists other good people could sponsor free clinics all across the land. The key though is produce those same medicines for free

HEalthcare should be free at NO ONES EXPENSE!Mar 28 2010 6:49am
And who do you think will pay in the end? It is amazing how many are asking for FREE handouts. So long as we find that attitude, the Govt will continue to take advantage and eventually erode our freedoms.

AnonymousMar 28 2010 12:05pm
I'm a "true greednick"??? I'm afraid you, and others of your gullibility, have a very sick outlook and will be in for a very sad awakening when you wake up and find your rights have been sold down the river of deceit. No, I am not a greednick. I am a very hard working man who has had physical problems creating a need to change my direction several times within my life. I am still working long hours long after the so-called "retirement age". I have never asked for help from the government, but at the same time, I have been a volunteer of my skills and servces to my community for, if you add up my time at the various programs, well over 60 years. And I am still volunteering my skills and service. I doubt that you, who are accusing me of being a "greednick" have ever given anything to any body.

A few weeks ago, Pelosi said we needed to get the health bill passed so people could see what is in it. Of course she did not want anybody to really know the truth BEFORE it could pass. Now it has been signed by pres, the truth is slowly coming out. It ain't pretty, I assure you.

Do you really feel safe having such an intrusive policy in the most powerful nation on the planet? The goverment IRS will have access to our health records. If god help us, some bad apple gets in the whitehouse, they could easily gain power by accessing your personal medical records. We would be totally helpless as no nation could rescue us. Sure such healthcare programs have worked in other countries. You know why there has never been any abuses? Because we and the world are watching over them! Well all know what happened to the healthcare program in nazi germany. they were the most powerful nation in europe and they thought they were unstoppable. thats why i opposed it from the getgo. Its just too risky in the most pwowerful nation on the planet. If some hitler gets in the whitehouse and uses the healthcare program to turn this country into a fascist state, who could stop him? No one!! There is an inherent risk in living in the most powerful nation on the planet. Thats why our freedoms and liberties are so important

The method Stalin used to control the Ukrain was to take over grain production. He took the grain (and other crops out of there so that ten million people were to starve to death within one year. One of the points in this so called "health care" bill is that the government control home gardening. They also will be putting on 12,000 more IRS agents so they can better keep track of all of us. If you cannot pay for your medicare, you will pay a very high fine and/or go to jail. You will be in a situation where you will have to choose between eating, paying higher (much higher) taxes, paying for healthcare or going to jail. Let's not talk about "some bad apple getting into the White House." We already have big problems and they are only going to get much bigger. Thesee people are already leading us in the very dangerous path and in many ways, it is already too late. You people who think that health care is a privilege to be handed out free are the enabelers. You are the ones who are not only gullible, you are enabeling the socialists in our government to take control to the point you are forcing those of us who have given you jobs out of our jobs. That my friend is going to be the reality of "trickle down economics." Wake up and smell the coffee while there is still some coffee to smell

Old Timer risk takerMar 30 2010 12:39am
You people are out of your minds. The government is finally doing something and reforming healthcare for the benefit of all Americans and you morons think it's the end of the world.

AnonymousMar 30 2010 8:34am
If anything I see paralells to the nazis in the militant movements that oppose healthcare. These people are like Hitler's brownshirts. There is an irrational hatred and blame going on eerily similar to The tactics Hitler used to rise to power.

AnonymousMar 30 2010 8:37am
Calm down and relax. Healthcare has been reformed. it's going to help alot of people. It's a good thing.

AnonymousMar 30 2010 8:39am
So I ma to understand that Canada is Stalinist and communist becase they have healthcare? How about the UK, Sweden, Norway, Japan, all of the countries we consider part of the free world? They all have healthcare. Does that make them Stalinist communists?

AnonymousMar 30 2010 8:45am
The healthcare plan being implemented in the United States Is the most capitalistic ever devised. There is no government run healthcare option. It's all private insurance companies that are involved.
